Hard to come up for air: Deep Dive.

For sure the most unique bar in Seattle.

It’s located below the Amazon Spheres and has the feel of a dark undersea grotto. The vibe is amplified by abstract representations of the hulls of boats above your head as you walk down a narrow corridor and into the bar. There are the usual seats at the bar with small tables scattered around the space which gives it an intimate feel. We arrived early and were seated in the library….very nice space and out of the main flow of traffic. It’s like having a get together over drinks.

This is one of Renee Erikson’s Seattle restaurant group spots and it lives up to her other offerings…..this time bar food with a twist. We sampled much of the “original” cocktail menu and small plates. It was all excellent with nods to the Kodak moment (arrives in a “Hello Kitty” mug), baked oysters and the elote tartine. The tartine was especially good and made all the better by the local pickled chanterelles.

On another visit the hot dog (think high end Seattle Dog) was tried…..must have….a beef and pork dog topped with pink salmon caviar.

They take limited reservations on the weekends so either show up early for a prime seat or keep that option in mind.

Very cocktail knowledgeable staff.
