I haven’t been here in about 30 years: K-Paul’s

Just got in and didn’t have any plans so I thought I’d see how this classic in the French Quarter was holding up after the death of its famous chef, Paul Prudhomme, in 2015.

It didn’t disappoint. Since I didn’t have a reservation my place was at the bar which had a nice view of the main floor…it was as I recall it from years ago when it was hard to get a seat anywhere….they didn’t take reservations back then. I remember standing in a long line with our daughter, then about 4 years old, around the time of Mardi Gras.

Tonight dinner was 2 classic dishes…the chicken and andouille gumbo…none finer with a perfectly wonderful dark roux and New Orleans BBQ shrimp….no not grilled and certainly not with BBQ sauce! Outstanding flavors and with just the right amount of spiciness. The generous amount of black pepper made the dish for me. All had with a nice California Petite Sirah.
