A seaplane base…really? Seaplane Kitchen.

Well…not really but the base is close by and seaplane flights leave daily to many places around Puget Sound including Victoria, BC. It’s an incredible experience that I’d highly recommended if you have a chance.

But, what about the food? Expect upscale….same chef as Bastille…bar food, including pizza, served in an interesting space….model airplanes all around. We started with the spiced marinated beets….delicious and followed that with Taylor Shellfish mussels prepared in the French style and the rigatoni lamb bolognese. It was all very good but I was a bit disappointed with the pasta dish, being more accustomed to a less “hardy” pasta with bolognese. The texture just seemed a bit off.

Finished with the sticky toffee apple cake. Of course the topping of roasted cinnamon soft serve, combined with the apples, made the dish.

Service was good but a bit “spacey”.

There is a common area in front of the restaurant called “The Hanger”. It includes a Diva Espresso in a beautiful space…and the largest Adirondack chair I’ve even seen/sat in. Seems to be a nice place to experience a cup of Joe. Expect a post in the future.
