It never disappoints: Westward.

The space is outstanding and one of the best places in Seattle for dining outside. Right on the north shore of Lake Union with great views of downtown and the Space Needle. A glorious place to be on a summer afternoon.

The menu is mostly small plates and oysters so it’s a great place to share. It constantly changes and varies from seafood to beef to pasta. On a recent visit we had the braised short ribs with a side of heirloom tomatoes which were both excellent. The short ribs were very tender with a slight sweetness from the added bing cherries but the tomatoes stole the show!

They have a very good wine list which has selection from the PNW and Old World. On a hot summer day, I’m partial to Rosé so, give the Txakolina from the Basque region of Spain a try…..slight effervescence which is very nice on a hot summer day. Finish the experience with the Eroica Ice Wine Riesling from WA State.

During the summer, try the Adirondack chairs but arrive early or they’ll all be taken. It’s a very popular spot. Reservations recommended.

Service is excellent.
