Quintessentially Seattle: Ivar’s.
There are 3 locations on the water in the metro area and a visit to one of the locations is a must for any visitor to Seattle.
Typical seafood offerings but a must have are the clam chowder…best I’ve ever had and salmon…Alder Wood and Cedar Plank grilled are also must haves. These dishes are what they are known for and what you as a visitor or you as a Seattleite with visitors would most like to experience. Another must have are the fried clam strips which are simply delicious.
The Salmon House is in the style of a First Nations longhouse and has a great deck with views of the Space Needle and downtown but, for a better view, I’d take visitors to the Acres of Clams location on the waterfront downtown. The sunsets over the Olympic Mountains can’t be beat.
