Finally got to the brick and mortar restaurant: Monsoon.

My first experience was take away from this highly regarded Vietnamese restaurant on Capitol Hill.

My usual go to Vietnamese food, which I use as a comparator between experiences, has been the vermicelli bowl (Bún). On this visit I decided to switch to a bańh mì. My bańh mì comparator was had at Stateside. While it was more authentic…pâté included…I enjoyed the flavors of this example a bit more. That may have in part been due to the fact that this example was pork…pork belly to be exact vs. chicken and pork. But, I still believe this preparation was just a bit more tasty.

Back to the vermicelli bowl. Unfortunately, my comparator, Green Leaf is no longer. This version was very good but not quite there. Could be improved with a bit more núó’c chãm.

The wait staff was friendly. There is also a location old Bellevue. Both sites have outdoor dining, weather permitting.
