Mexican American: Super Bueno
Not sure how to best characterize this place…..Mexican cuisine but owned by the Stowell restaurant group which has historically been focused on Northwest and Italian fare. Mkt. and Goldfinch Tavern are other examples of his work and are a very different experiences.
While I didn’t experience it….due to my age….there is apparently a separate kids area upstairs, including toys. I was here this night as a small group and had the ability to order off the regular menu which is a better way to get a sense of a place vs. a dinner for 30.
We started with the Super Bueno nachos….very good and made all the more tasty with the drizzled topping of chipotle mayo. This place is all about margaritas and tacos. Tried two of the margararits….the watermelon and a more classic rendition. The watermelon was good but could have been made better with an add of salt on the glass rim. Not sure why it was presented that way since a bit of salt on watermelon is hard to beat.
I had a 5 plate of tacos which were all good with a shout out to the carnitas and the chorizo and potato. The only one that didn’t resonate was the carne asada…..a bit on the dry side.
The space is large and open but with an acceptable noise level.
Service was good
