A must visit: Vidalia. Sadly it’s now closed…..see Honeysuckle.

This is one of those places that I count among a handful that has to be experienced at least once in a lifetime. I always plan a visit when in DC.

Even the bread is to be experienced: a mixture of corn bread (sweet), biscuit, cheese Jalapeno muffin and focaccia.

Started with a favorite of mine: foie gras. This version was from the Hudson Valley and was like butter on the tongue. Served with an unusual side of apple tart.

Next was a She Crab soup, which is a must when experienced from the source: Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab. It was unbelievable!

The main was what I always get when offered: shrimp and grits (Anson Mills). There are only a few places that can do this well….this is one of them. It was all tied together with a nice Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.

Finished….although I should have stopped after the grits…with bourbon caramel ice cream.

Presentation and service were impeccable!
