Brewpub in B’ham: Aslan Brewing Co.
For my Alabama followers, no this isn’t in Birmingham…..Bellingham instead….which my PNW followers will immediately recognize.
I’ve been here a couple of times and their specialty is obviously beer. Expect food to go along with the beer options…with a few ciders thrown in as well. My last visit, I tasted the cherry hard cider….excellent!
With respect to their food, one unique twist to the usual pub fare are their rice bowls….interesting. Otherwise expect burgers, sandwiches and fries. The poutine is hugh so don’t have it as a side with your Bison Burger unless you are starving! It could have also used a bit more salt to bring out the flavors of the gravy.
Service is friendly and usually good but on a recent visit, with the place slammed with people, it was subpar. However, I’d cut them some slack because of that. It can be busy on a weekend night so come prepared to wait for a table. The inside space is open and airy and they have an outdoor area which is nice when the weather cooperates.
They also have a new Seattle location which I need to try.
