Quick trip to check out: Back East BBQ.

We have a wedding coming up in August so we did a bit of a secret shopper trip to the area to check out this food truck as a possibility. We found them at the Bellingham Farmers Market on a colder than expected Saturday…..should have known this seeing the snow in the lower foothills of the Cascades on the drive north.

We sampled the pulled pork and brisket. Both were reasonable but still not up to what you get in the South although I’ve never seen such a selection of sauces….7 to be exact nor is it ever served up on a brioche bun. Had to start with the regular old red…..a nice sweet tomato based sauce that was only very mildly spicy. Sides of potato salad, which needed a bit more salt, and black beans and white corn which was quite good completed the plate. Conspicuously absent were baked beans and slaw…staples of Southern BBQ.
