Takeaway: New Orleans style Po Boy.

Part of Ethan Stowell Restaurants this popup was all about New Orleans style Po Boys. You order online for a specific pickup time then show up just before. They send you a text when your order is ready…..very efficient. Description of the popup here.

The Po Boys were very good….we tried the cajun shrimp and fried soft shell crab options which come with cajun fries and, for dessert, key lime bars.  The key line bars were outstanding. Of the Po Boys, the cajun shrimp was the best of the 2 we tried. The soft shell crab was nicely executed, fried, not chewy and served with bacon….basically a fried soft shell crab BLT.  That said, the best soft shell crab BLT, in my opinion, is from Fancy’s on 5th in Birmingham. Gotta have something to do with how close they are to the Gulf of Mexico. The one we didn’t try was the lobster fritter version. Oddly, there wasn’t an option for fried oysters…a New Orleans classic.

For drinks, you must have the frozen watermelon margaritas. Limit yourself but don’t pick the option for 2; go with one for each person. You won’t be disappointed.
