Always a unique experience here: The London Plane.
Breakfast: The eggs and biscuits with gravy were fabulous….best gravy I think I’ve ever had. For those not wanting meat or eggs the toast with local baked strawberries and rhubarb shavings are a nice alternative. On another visit we had an excellent brunch of Kouign amann, rice kimchi and peppers and poached eggs
Lunch: Limited choices on the menu but, as usual, everything tried was excellent. My choice was the smoked fish which was served on warm potato salad. The potatoes made the dish and appeared to have been brined….salty…before being pan fried. The Plane Bread with fava spread and pickled onion and white radishes was a nice accompaniment to our dishes.
They always have something to offer so don’t be surprised when you visit or go for take away: fresh oysters, cookies, bread, and an excellent selection of “pantry” items including unique wines. If you do get the oysters, be prepare to shuck them yourself. Video here in case you need a few pointers, as I did.
Service is always very good.
