Recommended by a colleague: Pomegranate Bistro.

Located in an industrial looking building in “downtown” Redmond, it’s a bit hard to find from the street and the parking lot fills quickly on weekends for brunch. Once inside, it no longer has that industrial feel and is pleasant and a nice spot for family dining. The brains behind this place is Lisa Dupar who also runs a very large catering business in the same location. By large….I mean huge…..1500 per year large!

She has Southern roots, having grown up in Atlanta, and it shows in some of the menu choices like shrimp and grits and southern fried chicken and waffles. So, once again, I had to have her version of shrimp and grits. They were very good and are currently second on my list with Seattle Biscuit Company being first. We also tried their buttermilk waffle, sans fried chicken, which was also well executed.

As mentioned, the place can be busy. Our wait, the weekend we visited, was about 20 minutes.

If you just want a bakery item and a coffee or espresso, there is an espresso stand inside the restaurant so you can get that to go or sip on a cup while you wait for your table.
