If you are looking for French food with a view, this is the place: Maximilien.

We were entertaining guest from out of town and it was a beautiful day so this should be your go to place for good French food and spectacular views from the terrace of the waterfront, West Seattle, and the Olympic Mountains.

Very typical French offerings and I’ve never had a bad meal here. The oysters are served with a granité which adds unbelievable flavors to the dish so get at least a dozen to share.

My go to choice is usually duck which I believe only the French really know how to properly cook. It was delivered medium rare with an outstanding array of small sides, including a wonderful gratin Dauphinois.

The wines varied but started with a nice, crisp, and fresh Oregon Pinot Gris to go with the oysters followed by another example from Oregon, a Pinot Noir. Finished with an interesting Château Roũmieu-Lacoste Sauternes. Very interesting herbal notes.

Dessert was a classic profiteroles au chocolat served with Olympic Mountain vanilla ice cream.

The pictures show additional choices and as I mentioned, you can’t go wrong here.
