Finally got to the brick and mortar restaurant: Monsoon

While my previous post was take away, this was my first visit to this highly regarded Vietnamese restaurant on Capitol Hill.

It was a beautiful day so I had lunch in the small alfresco area which seats about 18 people.

My usual go to Vietnamese food, that I use as a comparison between experiences, has been the vermicelli bowl (Bún) but I’ve decided to switch to bańh mì which was on the menu the day I visited. My comparator was a recent experience at Stateside. While it was more authentic….pâté included…I enjoyed the flavors of this example more. It may have in part been due to the fact that this example was pork…..pork belly to be exact vs. chicken and pork…but I still believe this preparation was just a bit more tasty.

My only complaint is that the service was slow…they weren’t busy that day so I’m not sure of the problem. Wait Staff was friendly and this location (also one in Bellevue) is in the “sleepy” area of Capitol Hill which makes dining outside more enjoyable.
